Ayyappa Vemulkar comes from a family that has been part of the fragrance industry since 1947. The materials, the molecules, the supply chains, the conversations between chemist and perfumer — these have been little adventures he's been part of for a while now.
This journal is a record of my journey in this wonderful world of fragrance. The work, the curiosity, the ingredients, and what happens when you ask each of them what they are truly capable of.
I actively manufacture high impact specialty ingredients for the fragrance industry. I enjoy the challenge of discovering new ingredients, and evaluating known ones. My work takes me to the molecular level — studying how structural changes to aroma chemicals shift odour profiles, evaluating quality, developing new materials, understanding where the ingredients that the world smells actually come from and what it takes to produce them well.
